Plane Crash in São Paulo State, Brazil, Claims Lives of All 62 Onboard

A plane crash in São Paulo state, Brazil, has resulted in the deaths of all 62 people on board. The twin-engine turboprop was en route from Cascavel, in the southern state of Paraná, to São Paulo city when it crashed in the town of Vinhedo, according to the Voepass airline.

Social media footage shows the aircraft descending vertically and spiraling as it fell. The plane, which was carrying 58 passengers and four crew members, crashed in a residential area. Local authorities reported no injuries to people on the ground, although one home in a condominium complex sustained damage.

Images from Brazil's GloboNews reveal a large fire and smoking wreckage amidst residential houses. Emergency services, including police and firefighters, are at the scene, and local hospitals have been notified.

Tracking website Flightradar24 noted that the plane, built in 2010, departed Cascavel at 11:56 local time (14:56 GMT). The last signal from the aircraft was received about an hour and a half later.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his condolences during a public event, calling the news "very sad" and extending his solidarity to the victims' families. São Paulo state Governor Tarcísio de Freitas is heading to the crash site, and the state government is deploying emergency teams to the area.
